About Prácheň Ensemble From Strakonice
The Prácheň ensemble from Strakonice belongs among significant representatives of South-Bohemian folklore. It was established in 1949 by Josef Režný a long-time leader of the ensemble, Czech bagpiper and collector of folk songs, dances and traditions. Since its origins, the ensemble draws from cultural wealth of the Prácheň region and the Šumava mountains foothills (Southern Bohemia).
In programmes of the ensemble, thematically oriented acts depicting traditions in the Prácheň region appear according to events (festival, concert, wedding etc.). Members of the ensemble perform before audience at home as well as abroad in charming folk costumes.
